FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s different about Riverview?
Well, we could go on and on about that! Riverview is privately owned and the owners, Drew and Susan
are on site and involved in every aspect of Riverview. We are a small community and really, like a big
family. We aren’t big and fancy, but Riverview feels like home, it really does.
Do you provide Assisted Care?
No, we don’t. Riverview is an independent living community. We provide a home where seniors
feel an extra level of comfort and safety, and their families feel assured that their loved one is in a
supportive, caring environment.
Are there any hidden fees?
No! We have included everything that you need in one monthly cost and we are up front about any
services that are over and above, such as meal tray service.
The monthly fee seems like a lot!
When you first see the monthly cost, it does seem like a lot, doesn’t it? But if you add up your costs
including mortgage or rent, property taxes, insurance, groceries, maintenance for your home, lawn
maintenance, snow removal, etc., it does seem reasonable. And our monthly fee is less than most
others.
Can my family join me for a meal?
At this moment, we aren’t able to have guests due to the pandemic. Once life is back to normal, we
would love to have families join us for meals again!
Am I able to move in during the pandemic?
Yes, you can. If you haven’t received your vaccine yet, we would arrange it for you. At this
moment, you would need to isolate for 2 weeks. We would bring you all meals and would make
sure that you have everything you need. There would be no charge for those 2 weeks.
Do you have Activities?
Yes, we do! You can join in on the exercise classes or take part in crafts. We have some avid card
players that are always open to new players! And we are always open to new ideas. And the
favorite activity at Riverview always seems to be sharing a meal with tablemates and having a long
chat.
Can I walk nearby?
Yes! Riverview has a fabulous backyard to have a stroll. There are gazebos and several areas to sit
and enjoy the birds. We are also a stone’s throw to the Mississippi River where you can enjoy fabulous
views. Downtown Carleton Place is about a ten-minute walk.
I am not sure if I ready to move. Can I come for a trial stay?
Yes! If there is availability, we would love to have you stay with us for a month or longer.
I think I may be ready but when I think of having to sell my house and packing everything, I get overwhelmed. What should I do?
We get it. Moving is stressful and having to sort through a lifetime of belongings and memories is
enough to stop anyone in their tracks. Give us a call and come for a tour and see if we might be a fit for
you. If you think it might be time to join our little community, talk to your family and see if they might be
able to help you. We can also put you in touch with people and organizations that might be able to help
with the transition.
